This book is a simplified story adaptation of the animated Disney/Pixar film, Inside Out. The narrative is primarily set inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley, who has just moved with her family from Minnesota to San Francisco. Riley is guided by her five core emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—who live and work at Headquarters inside her brain. When Riley struggles to adjust to her new life, chaos erupts at Headquarters, causing Joy and Sadness to be accidentally expelled into the vast regions of Riley's mind, far from the Control Center. Joy and Sadness must undertake a perilous journey through Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, and other unique corners of Riley’s psyche, striving to return and help Riley balance her emotions and cope with the enormous change in her life.
