A Wrinkle in Time

Madeleine L'Engle - Personal Name;

"A Wrinkle in Time" tells the adventure of Meg Murry, a high school girl who feels out of place, her brilliant younger brother Charles Wallace, and their new friend Calvin O'Keefe. The story begins on a dark and stormy night when they are visited by a mysterious stranger named Mrs. Whatsit. They soon discover that Meg’s father, a government scientist who went missing, is trapped on another planet after experimenting with a "tesseract"—a concept that allows travel across time and space through the fifth dimension.

Guided by three strange yet wise celestial beings—Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which—the trio embarks on a journey across the universe. They quickly realize that the cosmos is under threat from a spreading shadow known as "The Black Thing." The mission to rescue Meg’s father turns into an epic battle against a malevolent force called "IT" on the planet Camazotz, a place where everyone is forced to think and act in absolute uniformity, devoid of individual freedom.

Throughout this journey, Meg learns that the flaws she once hated in herself—her anger, impatience, and stubbornness—actually become the tools she needs to save those she loves. The story culminates in the realization that the greatest power to defeat darkness is not superior intellect or physical strength, but love. The novel is a brilliant fusion of science, theology, and adventure that teaches readers that being different is a strength, not a weakness. It remains a timeless classic that encourages young readers to embrace their individuality in a world that often demands conformity.
