Pizza On Saturday
Pizza On Saturday tells the story of Charlotte, a young girl whose seemingly ordinary life is violently disrupted by the sudden death of her father. Charlotte is tormented by guilt, constantly replaying the memory of rushing her father out the door before his last trip, believing she contributed to his not returning. While her family is consumed by their own grief, Charlotte struggles to understand her feelings and how she is expected to behave.
Her healing journey begins through two unique friendships: first, with her elderly neighbor, whose wisdom offers quiet comfort, and second, with Anita, a new refugee girl at school whom Charlotte is tasked to look after. By observing Anita's background and considering the devastating losses Anita endured as a refugee, Charlotte begins to see her own loss in a broader, global context. This perspective shift enables Charlotte to finally ask the right questions about her own grief and accept that she can move beyond the tragedy, even though the pain will remain.
